“[He’s] hiding under a highway overpass!” 😰
It was a typical August day in Missouri last week when Stray Rescue of St. Louis’s (SRSL) rescue team received word that someone fluffy had seemingly been abandoned along a major roadway.
They quickly arrived at the location, and with a busy interstate rattling overhead, they suddenly saw a face staring at them from the side of the road.
“A scared little puppy hiding under a highway overpass!” SRSL wrote on Facebook.

Despite the roar of cars zooming by, the blonde puppy stayed perfectly still in an alcove off the road’s shoulder. He was all alone, with no food, water or humans in sight, and his eyes were pleading for help as his chin rested on the ground.

The SRSL team had no way of knowing where the dog had come from, but they promised not to leave him behind.
Within minutes, they successfully slipped a leash over the pup’s head and lured him out of his hiding spot to the safety of their vehicle.

At SRSL’s headquarters, the dog received a mountain of affection and a thorough checkup. Thankfully, the pup — who seemed to be around 3 years old and a Pyrenees mix — was relatively healthy and quickly cleared for foster care.
His foster parents, George and Vicki Dunn, couldn’t have been happier to welcome the pup into their home — and he’s been doing great ever since.
“We lovingly call him Remi,” George Dunn wrote in a Facebook comment. “He is a sweet boy that has popped out of his shell since coming home with us. He is so playful already and has a family that is excited to have him join their family …”

Remi is thriving in his foster home, but he can’t wait to meet his forever family soon. The sweet boy is scheduled to be neutered, after which he will be able to go home officially.
After surviving under a highway overpass on his own, Remi’s life has already changed for the better. And with an adoptive family buzzing with excitement to welcome him home, the best is yet to come.
“He is already so so loved!” Ellen Pendry, Remi’s future forever mom, wrote in a comment.
