The black luxury sedan slowed at the private school gates, arriving early once again. Nathan Cole, a billionaire investor known for control and precision, glanced at his watch. Since his wife’s death two years earlier, time had become the one thing he tried to master. As he scanned the sidewalk, something made him sit upright. When Nathan asked Lena about herself, she hesitated, then told the truth. She was sixteen. Her mother had died. They lost their home. Shelters were full.
