I wore a prom dress my father made from my late mother’s wedding gown, and for a moment, it felt like she was right there beside me. It should have seemed impossible. At prom, I walked in feeling proud and strong—until my English teacher laughed at me in front of everyone. Her words cut deep, turning my perfect moment into something painful.
