5 SHOCKING Reasons Your Dog Won’t Cuddle – #3 Is Hidden in Your Daily Routine

Posted on September 16, 2025

Hi, it’s Tara here —and if you’ve been wondering why your furry friend isn’t into snuggles lately, you’re not alone. Let’s count down the top 5 surprising reasons—starting from #5—that could be keeping your pup from cozying up to you.

#5 – Genetics and Personality

Some dogs simply aren’t “cuddle types.” Breeds with a more independent, protective, or alert temperament may prefer showing love from a distance rather than curling up in your lap. This isn’t rejection—it’s just their natural way of expressing affection.

#4 – Discomfort or Pain

If your dog used to love cuddles but has suddenly stopped, physical discomfort may be the reason.

Joint pain, muscle strain, or even minor injuries can make close contact unpleasant. A vet check can help rule out health issues.

#3 – Hidden Triggers in Your Routine

This is the sneaky one—small, everyday habits can unintentionally turn cuddles into stress.

Picking your dog up from the front can strain their spine or shoulders.

5 SHOCKING Reasons Your Dog Won’t Cuddle 🐾– #3 Is Hidden in Your Daily Routine

Hugging too tightly can feel restrictive and unsafe.

Sudden, full-body grabs may trigger a “get away” reflex.
Your dog notices these cues even if you don’t.

#2 – Negative Past Experiences

Dogs who’ve been roughly handled, restrained for grooming, or forced into hugs in the past may associate closeness with discomfort. These memories can make them hesitant to let their guard down physically.

#1 – Hugging Isn’t a Dog’s Love Language

While humans hug to show love, dogs have their own ways—nose nudges, leaning, gentle pawing. Being held tightly can limit their movement and trigger a natural “flight” instinct, especially in more high-energy breeds.

How to Build “Cuddle Trust”

Go slow—let them come to you.

Read their body language—tense muscles, pinned ears, or lip-licking are signs to stop.

Use positive reinforcement—treats and gentle praise when they choose closeness.

Avoid restrictive hugs, especially from the front.

See a vet if you suspect pain or discomfort.

With patience and understanding, your dog may learn that cuddles are safe, enjoyable, and full of love. 🐶💛

Exclusive: Country music star Brett Eldredge addresses Kelly Clarkson dating rumors

Kelly Clarkson spills the beans on her stunning weight loss: No workouts, just Harry Potter and Spanx!

Kelly Clarkson has finally opened up about her recent weight loss, attributing it to changes she made in her diet due to an autoimmune disease and a thyroid issue. In an interview with “Extra,” she mentioned reading the book “The Plant Paradox” by Steven R. Gundry, MD, which focuses on cooking food in a non-GMO, pesticide-free, and organic way. However, she didn’t disclose specific details about her autoimmune disease or thyroid issue.

Surprisingly, Clarkson clarified that she hasn’t been working out despite people assuming she has. She humorously credited her glam squad for her transformation, jokingly mentioning hiring “Harry Potter and Spanx.”

Exclusive: Country music star Brett Eldredge addresses Kelly Clarkson dating rumors

Country music singer Brett Eldredge is the first to admit that he’s a very private man – but after two years, he has finally addressed thoseKelly Clarkson dating rumors.

The Songs About You singer – who releases his seventh studio album of the same name on June 17 – was first linked to Kelly following their Christmas duet, Under The Mistletoe, in 2020, shortly after her divorce from Brandon Blackstock.

Now, in an exclusive interview with HELLO! US, Brett has opened up about his admiration for the Whole Lotta Woman hitmaker.

Admitting he has been a fan of Kelly’s since her breakthrough on American Idol, Brett said of their duet: “Kelly reached out about doing Under The Mistletoe and I’m a huge fan of hers. I remember seeing her in concert when she was on the American Idol tour after she had just won and

I was so in awe of the power of her voice and just the person she was.”

He added: “I couldn’t believe I got to sing with her. The fact that [she] reached out was so cool.” Addressing the dating rumors that followed their duet, Brett said: “Yeah, those always come. It’s crazy but it’s just people I love to make music with.”

He added: “I’ve been very fortunate to get to work with incredible women, and just powerful human beings and great people too, and to get to share the stage with them, it’s a dream.

Of course, Kelly isn’t the only female Brett has enjoyed a successful collaboration with. Back in 2016, he duetted with Meghan Trainor on another Christmas track, Baby It’s Cold Outside.

“I love powerful female vocalists that just move me,” he said of working with both Kelly and Meghan. “Meghan I knew, she was a songwriter at one point in Nashville, and she and I were part of People magazine’s ‘One to Watch’, and we had an event together so we met and became friends,” he added.

“I loved her style – she loves that throwback kind of 50s sound, and she loves [Frank] Sinatra and we bonded over that – and so we did Baby It’s Cold Outside and it became a big hit.”

Brett is currently on a UK tour and has two more dates playing Manchester O2 Ritz on Sunday, May 8, and London’s O2 Forum, Kentish Town, on Tuesday, May 10. Tickets are available from Live Nation. His new single, Songs About You, is available now, and his new album, also titled Songs About You, is out June 17 and available to pre-order from Amazon.

So moving! Kelly Clarkson burst into tears when kids of Brandon said, ‘You’re always our mother’!

As longtime friends, Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson are bound to have funny memories with each other, and Shelton shared a humorous (and slightly embarrassing) story about his friend and fellow The Voice coach on a recent episode of Access.

Clarkson appeared for an interview on the show, and while enjoying a glass of pinot noir during a “Kellyoke Bar” segment, hosts Mario Lopez and Kit Hoover surprised the singer with the message from Shelton.

“We had to go out and ask a friend of yours, what’s it like to drink with Kelly Clarkson?” Hoover said before revealing exactly who was featured in the clip. “Here’s what he said.”

The hosts then pointed a clip of Shelton telling a story about a wine night at Clarkson’s home.

“Kelly, I was at her house — this has probably been seven or eight years ago — her house in Nashville, and she had gotten into the wine pretty heavy,” Shelton says in an earlier interview.

“And the reason I remember this is because she was wearing a white shirt that, by the end of the night, it looked like she had been coloring Easter eggs on her shirt.”

Shelton continued, throwing a few more jokes Clarkson’s way while she watched along and laughed.

“I don’t know if she had a hole in the bottom of her jaw or she was just getting so wasted that she was just missing her mouth altogether, but it looked like she had been in a car accident with a wine bottle in the car,” he jokes.

Clarkson had the chance to tell her side of the story when the clip ended, and she clarified that the situation wasn’t quite as simple as Shelton made it out to be.

“In fairness, he’s talking about, like, years ago, I had just had a child, so I hadn’t had alcohol in months!” she says. “So it wasn’t that I had a ton. I just couldn’t handle it, so I got very inebriated.”

“It was an interesting night,” she adds.

Clarkson and Shelton will share the stage on The Voice yet again on Season 23 this spring, and a recent trailer shows them picking up their competitive relationship right where they left off. The new season, also starring coaches Niall Horan and Chance the Rapper, premieres March 6 on NBC.

Now she’s set to take the stage for her Las Vegas residency, which has been renamed Chemistry. That is also the title of her 10th studio album, which dropped on June 23, and was written during the breakup of her marriage of seven years.

She shares River Rose, nine, and Remington Alexander, seven, with her ex and earlier this month she appeared on the Podcrushed podcast and said: ‘When you do go through a divorce, especially with young kids, the definition of love comes up quite a bit.

The 38-year-old star was seen treating her two children – six-year-old daughter River Rose and four-year-old son Remington Alexander – to a day at the beach in Santa Barbara on Saturday.

The family bonding day comes just four months after Kelly and Brandon Blackstock filed for divorce after almost seven years of marriage.

No doubt the Since U Been Gone hitmaker had a blast with her kids as she could be seen lovingly patting her son’s head as he frolicked on the shoreline.

Kelly QUASHES rumors her Vegas shows will kick off a full tour

Kelly Clarkson went makeup-free on Instagram this Friday while quashing rumors that her Las Vegas shows will kick off a full tour.

The 41-year-old songstress announced this March that she will play 10 concerts at Planet Hollywood’s Bakkt Theater in July and August.

Fans began speculating that the Sin City engagement might be a teaser for a longer tour that Kelly would announce at a later date.

However she fired up her social media to put a stop to the conjecture, reminding the public she has ‘a nine-to-fiver’ in the form of her daytime talk show.

Along with her series – production of which is currently on hold for the Hollywood writers’ strike – she noted she is also occupied with her two young children.

Kelly shares her daughter River, eight, and son Remy, seven, with her ex-husband and former manager Brandon Blackstock.

‘People are saying: “Are you going on tour?” Here’s the thing. This is why I announced the 10 shows in Vegas. I was not being like: “Oh, it’s a secret. We’ve really got this huge tour we’re gonna do right after,”‘ she assured the fans.

‘It really is, like – I don’t know if y’all have noticed, but I have like a nine-to-fiver! Like, I have a job that’s like a lot of, you know, work and takes time,’ said Kelly.

‘So – and I also have kids! You know, they’re in school, so I get really tied down to those things, obviously,’ the mother of two explained.

However she made sure to keep hope alive, letting slip that ‘we are trying to figure out what the possibilities are in certain parts of our calendar.’

Returning to her original theme, she said with a laugh: ‘But I’m not like, you know, saying: “Oh, there’s only 10 shows!” and really secretly we have these other ones.

‘

Kelly doubled down: ‘Like, it’s really these 10 shows!’ insisting she had been ‘very adamant about being very honest when I first announced it.’

She promised an ‘intimate,’ ‘cool’ production with a ‘more rock ‘n’ roll vibe, like, not so like Vegas-y like everywhere. But it’s gonna be really cool.’

Her post comes after she vowed to undergo ‘leadership training’ in the wake of a report that her talk show had become a ‘toxic’ work environment.

The daytime series became the target of a Rolling Stone exposé where one current and 10 former staffers claimed bullying took place behind the scenes.

Blake Shelton Is Returning To TV This Week, And I Can’t Wait To See Him Reunite With Kelly Clarkson

Fans of The Voice sure do miss Blake Shelton this season, with the cowboy bowing out earlier this year after an impressive 12-year stint as a coach on the show. For those viewers who are craving some of that “Hillbilly Bone” snark in their lives, I’ve got good news for you — Shelton is returning to TV this week, and he’ll even be reuniting with some of his buddies from The Voice, when Barmageddon Season 2 premieres on USA Network.

Barmageddon, which features celebrities facing off in over-the-top bar games, was created by Blake Shelton and Carson Daly after the two became BFFs on The Voice. But the longtime host isn’t the only familiar face the cowboy will see on the November 13 premiere. Kelly Clarkson will be one of the featured celebrities, and I absolutely can’t wait to see her and Shelton trading playful jabs on my screen again.

Fans loved the feud between Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton on The Voice, and the trolling between the two real-life friends was constant. NBC pulled out all the stops for Blake Shelton’s final episode — and deservedly so — but the Season 23 finale was also the last appearance of the American Idol champion, as she has since relocated to the East Coast. So while it sounds like a return to The Voice is not in the cards for her anytime soon, she apparently had no qualms about making the trip to Nashville, Tennessee, to reunite with her former colleague at his bar Ole Red.

Blake Shelton Is Returning To TV This Week, And I Can’t Wait To See Him Reunite With Kelly Clarkson

Unfortunately Kelly Clarkson won’t be competing against her ex-rival on the Barmageddon Season 2 premiere. She’ll instead face off against The Fast and the Furious franchise actress Michelle Rodriguez in bar games that in Season 1 included punny and suggestive names like Drunken Axehole (axe-throwing), Just the Tip (pool meets Pictionary), Four Play (large Connect 4) and Split Happens (bowling).

I really do miss both Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson on The Voice.

That’s no shade to the cowboy’s replacement Reba McEntire or the rest of the current coaches of The Voice — John Legend, Gwen Stefani and Niall Horan. But Shelton injected a certain energy to the show, and his chemistry with Clarkson is something NBC hasn’t been able to recreate. It’s not for lack of effort, as they seemed to test the waters of a rivalry between Legend and Horan, but it didn’t stick.

It was also fun to see Blake Shelton’s relationship with Gwen Stefani develop on The Voice, and that’s one pairing Barmageddon fans will also get to see early in Season 2. In fact, in Episode 2, the husband and wife will go head-to-head in competition, as Carson Daly takes his regular spot behind the bar. As much as fans miss Shelton on the singing competition, it’s probably not as much as his wife, who returned to The Voice just as her husband made his exit.

The “No Body” singer will also face off against Ice T and Lauren Alaina this season on Barmageddon, and other celebrity contestants will include Jelly Roll, Boyz II Men, Rob Riggle and Nikki Glaser. First, though, it’s Kelly Clarkson vs. Michelle Rodriguez, so be sure to tune in at 11 p.m. ET Monday, November 13, on USA Network, and check out our 2023 TV schedule to see what other premieres are coming soon.
