“She was actively seeking someone to take her home.”
When Maria Yabetta, an avid bunny rescuer, found out about a bunny who had been abandoned in Lafreniere Park in New Orleans, Louisiana, she rushed to help. Yabetta is used to rescuing bunnies who may be scared or unsure after everything they’ve been through, but that was definitely not the case this time.
“What a treat to be greeted with such excitement,” Yabetta wrote on TikTok.
The bunny ran straight to Yabetta and welcomed as many pets as she could give her. Apparently, the sweet girl had been approaching people and asking for help for a while by that point, but Yabetta was the first person to actually listen.
“Turns out this pretty girl was asking to be rescued for more than 2 weeks,” Yabetta wrote.
Yabetta named her Clementine and was able to give her gentle nose kisses within minutes of meeting her. The abandoned bunny could not have been sweeter if she tried, and Yabetta could not imagine what drove someone to abandon her in the park like that.
Yabetta offered Clementine some snacks, but she didn’t even want them — she just wanted love.
“Bunnies bond with people just like a cat or a dog, it’s just a different kind of bonding process,” Yabetta said. “It’s very obvious that this bunny, sweet Clementine, did feel bonded to somebody. She was actively seeking someone to take her home.”
Yabetta is so grateful she found Clemetine when she did, before something happened to her. Now the sweet bunny is safe, and literally all she wants is to be held and loved.
Yabetta will care for Clementine until she can find her the perfect forever home, which, considering how wonderful she is, shouldn’t be hard.
“She’s gonna be a great addition to someone’s family,” Yabetta said.
