They were left all alone in the rain đź’”
An employee at the RSPCA Doncaster and Rotherham District Branch was arriving to work on Saturday morning in the middle of an awful storm. They wanted to get inside as quickly as possible, but stopped in their tracks when they spotted an abandoned crate outside the shelter gates.

The employee’s heart dropped when they realized what had happened. Inside the crate were seven very scared puppies, abandoned all alone in the rain. There were so many puppies crammed into the tiny crate that they could barely move, and they had no access to food or water.

“The puppies were in a crate at the side of a main road, not even close to our building,” Daniel Cartwright, the RSPCA branch manager, said in a press release. “They were left in conditions that put them in harm’s way, especially with the cold and rainy weather we were having at the weekend. Fortunately, we don’t think they had been there too long — they were wet and cold and confused — but they soon enjoyed the fuss and attention from our staff.”

As soon as the puppies were safely inside the shelter, the staff members worked to get them bathed, fed and snuggled up in warm and cozy blankets. They decided to name the puppies after storms: Bram, Dave, Eddie, Marty, Oscar, Patrick and Wubbo.
“They are doing really well and all appear healthy,” Cartwright said. “It is heartbreaking to think that someone has just discarded them like this.”

The puppies are so much happier and more relaxed now that they’re out of harm’s way, and the staff members are enjoying pampering them. They’ll remain in the care of the RSPCA until they’re ready to find their forever homes. In the meantime, the shelter is still searching for whoever abandoned these babies.

“We are keen to speak to the person who left these puppies so we can find out about their medical history, and we would urge them to get in touch with us,” Cartwright said.
