He Was on His Honeymoon. Then Lightning Struck.
A 29-year-old man visiting Florida from Colorado has died after being struck by lightning on a New Smyrna Beach during severe weather.
The man was reportedly on his honeymoon when the lightning strike happened Friday. First responders rushed to save him, performing CPR before taking him to a hospital in critical condition. He died the following day.
But he wasn’t the only person struck by lightning in the area that day. Two golfers at a nearby course were also indirectly struck. Fortunately, they did not require hospitalization.
Officials are reminding everyone of a simple rule: If you hear thunder, get indoors.
