At first glance, it looks like a spherical black orb with a single eyeball in the center. Despite its puzzling and somewhat disturbing appearance, it isn’t a cartoon character. Nor is it a newly discovered alien species.
When you look at the creature from a different angle, her true identity is revealed: She’s an adorable little Pomeranian.
Surprisingly, the photos of the dog have not been altered by Photoshop. The combination of the dog’s fluffy fur and her white snout make her look like an eyeball in the middle of a black sphere from certain angles.
Vinci DeLaunc, who posted these photos of his brother’s Pomeranian on Reddit, says the pup’s appearance looks just as disorienting in real life as it does in the pictures.
“She really looks like that 24/7 from my height,” DeLaunc wrote on Reddit. “[S]he looks like one giant eye all the time. My brother has to put a scarf on her to break the illusion.”
The dog’s quiet demeanor only adds to her uncanniness.
“It’s really jarring [in real life] because her claws constantly tap on the floor, she’s not verbal, doesn’t bark and just roams around the house,” DeLaunc said.
After DeLaunc posted the photos, they quickly went viral across several platforms. Social media users across the internet were surprised and delighted by this mind-bending dog.
“I thought it was an optical illusion at first!” one commenter wrote on Reddit.
Other commenters compared her to a “furry Mike Wazowski” and “a cyclops cotton ball.”

Despite all these comparisons, at the end of the day, she’s not a cyclops, a blob or a giant eyeball. She’s just a little Pomeranian who might occasionally make people do a double-take when they pass her on the street.
