This week, on a chilly winter night in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Cami Ruocco decided to grab a bite to eat with her boyfriend and cousin at a local café. What she did not expect, however, was to see the moment a dog’s life changed forever.
While enjoying the meal and conversation, Ruocco looked out of the window and saw a stray dog approaching two people at a table out front. The dog, starved for affection and food, had apparently arrived seeking a bit of both from the strangers.
“I paid close attention,” Ruocco told The Dodo. “The girls were petting him, so I recorded the moment.”
This, however, was only the beginning of what would become a much longer story:
After a few moments of interacting with the sweet dog who’d arrived at their feet, the two at the table made the most beautiful decision.
“We found out from the waitress that they were going to adopt him,” Ruocco said.
When their attempts to craft a makeshift leash failed, the kindhearted pair carried their new pet home in their arms.
That night, everything changed for the formerly lonely dog, who’s reportedly now named Platon.
The Dodo contacted Platon’s new family to learn how he’s settling in to his new life, but they couldn’t be reached for comment. However, their gesture that night, setting the pup on a happier new course, speaks for itself.
“When I saw what they did, I felt so relieved,” Ruocco said.
